The Lamplighter

A brutal heat wave breaks into a storm, and three million people in Harrow City are plunged into darkness. Lineworker Nora Quill is sent into the oldest district to bring the grid back near the abandoned 1888 gasworks. Lampposts that should be dead begin to burn with a toxic green flame, and bodies start appearing on them with their eyes burned out. An old historian steps out of the rain with a legend, a satchel full of yellowed newspapers, and one warning: do not be standing in the dark when you hear the hiss.
