Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026
This policy explains what Marc Antony Comics ("MA Comics", "we") collects when you use macomics.net, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect only what we need to run your subscription and improve the site, we never see your card number, and we never sell your information.
What We Collect
Your account. When you subscribe we keep your email address, the customer and subscription IDs Stripe gives us, and whether your subscription is active. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Your card number never reaches our servers.
Signing in. We sign you in with a 6 digit code sent to your email instead of a password. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of each code, and codes expire within 20 minutes.
Reading. Pages beyond the free preview carry a faint watermark with your email address and account number. Only you see your copy, and the watermark exists to discourage sharing of paid pages.
Messages. When you use the contact form we keep the topic, your name, your email, your message, the account you were signed in with (if any) and your IP address, so we can reply and block spam.
Visits. Like most websites, our server records IP addresses and the pages requested, and keeps short term counters per IP address to stop abuse such as repeated login attempts.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to learn which pages and books people read: pages viewed, books opened, previews finished, Subscribe clicks, completed subscriptions, plus general device, browser and approximate location information. We never send your name or email to Google.
Cookies and Browser Storage
We use a small number of cookies and no advertising cookies:
- mac_s: keeps you signed in for up to 30 days.
- mac_lb: ties a login code to the browser that asked for it, for up to 20 minutes, so a code cannot be used somewhere else.
- _ga and _ga_*: Google Analytics cookies that tell visits apart.
- mac_co (browser storage, not a cookie): remembers for up to 3 hours that you clicked Subscribe, so we can count a completed subscription. It is deleted when you come back from checkout.
Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the fonts load.
How We Use It
- To run your subscription and give subscribers access to every issue.
- To send login codes and replies to your questions.
- To keep the site and paid pages secure and stop abuse.
- To understand which books readers enjoy, so we know what to make next.
Who We Share It With
We share information only with the services that run the site: Stripe (payments), Google (analytics and fonts), and our hosting and email providers. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. In the terms used by California law, we do not "sell" or "share" personal information.
How Long We Keep It
Account information is kept while you have an account and for as long as needed for billing records. Sign in codes and sessions expire on their own. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of the conversation. Google Analytics keeps its data according to the retention setting on our account.
Your Choices
- Cancel anytime from your account page. You keep reading until the end of your billing month.
- Ask for a copy, a correction or deletion of your information through the contact form. We will reply by email. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have additional rights, and we will honor them.
- Turn off analytics by blocking cookies in your browser or using the Google Analytics opt out add on. The site still works.
Children
macomics.net is not meant for children under 13, and many of our books are rated Mature 16+ or 18+. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The whole site runs over HTTPS, we use emailed codes instead of passwords, login codes and sessions are stored only in scrambled form, and paid pages are only served to signed in subscribers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes and Contact
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions about privacy? Send us a message and a real person will reply.
